Nature trails of Bükk-region (Bükk, Upponyi-mountain)

 

B-1 nature trail: Szarvaskő - Geological Nature Trail

Bükk, South-west-Bükk (Bükk National Park)

Established and maintained by: Bükk National Park Directorate
Parameters of the nature trail:

   Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 8,8 km, 3-4 hours

   Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, one part in line, the other part turns back to the      starting point (round tour)

     Difficulty level: tour routeApproach: Starting sign of the study trail is in the      centre of Szarvaskő village, north of Eger, at the parking lot
      Description:  Walking along the study      trail, characteristic rock formations of Eger-stream gorge valley, varied      flora and fauna of the area can be learned, and also an interesting      geological show-place can be found (Attention: the section between station      3 and 4 is not built, crossing the       railway, the stream and the busy road is not yet solved!)

 

B-2 nature trail: Eger - Nagy-Eged Nature Trail

Bükk, South-western-Bükk

    Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 4 km, 3 hoursSigning, route: green leaf, turns      back to the starting point (round tour)

    Approach: The starting board of the nature trail can be found north of Eger-Noszvaj road, at Csomós farm in the valley between Kis-Eged and Nagy-Eged hills.
    Description: The nature trail showa rich flora and plant communities of  Nagy-Eged hill.

 

B-3 nature trail: Felsőtárkány - Kő-közi Nature Trail

Bükk mountains, South-Bükk (Bükk National Park)

    Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 800 m, 1 hour

    Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, turns back to the starting point (round tour), joins      Barát-rét Study Trail and Vár-hegy Study Trail

Approach: The start station is at the lake coast in the north-east of village Felsőtárkány (near BNPI Educational- and Visitors Centre)

Description: The „three-circle" nature trail connects Szikla-spring and the limestone cliff above, Kő-köz rock-gorge under and the lake into a tour route.

 

B-4 nature trail: Felsőtárkány - Vár-hegyi Nature Trail

    Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, round tour, joins Kőközi Study Trail and Barát-rét      Study Trail

    Difficulty level: tour-type route

Approach: The start station is at the lake coast in the north-east of village Felsőtárkány (near BNPI Educational- and Visitors Centre) and from Park Hotel Táltos (former Youth Camp). The walk can be started on Vár-hill, at Várkúti Tourist-house as well.

Description: The trail acquaints us with various geological formations, wildlife of hornbeam oak-, sunmountain beech-, lime avoiding oak- and linden forests, and also fortified settlement, earth-fort from Kyjatice-culture from the late Bronze Age. 

 

B-5 nature trail: Felsőtárkány - Barát-réti Nature Trail

    Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 6,5 km, 3 hours

    Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square till Bujdosó-kő, from there tourist route Z takes      back to the settlement,, turns back to the starting point (round tour),      joins Kő-közi Study Trail and Vár-hegyi Study Trail

Approach: The start station is at the lake coast in the north-east of village Felsőtárkány (near BNPI Educational- and Visitors Centre)
Description: At the nature trail clay-slate- and limestone cliffs from Jura age can be seen above the linden-ashtree rocky forest, and on the way the flora and fauna can be admired as well.

 

B-6 nature trail: Felsőtárkány - Vöröskő-valley Forest Nature Trail

1.   Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 1,5 km, 1-3 hour. 

      Signing, route: no sign, round      tour

      Stations (signed sights): 15 stations      21 information boards.

      Difficulty level: walking      route

Approach: The start board is at the terminal of Felsőtárkány Forest Train, at Stimecz house.

Description: At the specially created nature trail 21 colourful, illustrated boards show flora and fauna of the mountain.

 

B-7 nature trail: Bélapátfalva - Bél-kő Nature Trail

     Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 5 km, 2,5 hours

     Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, goes in line.

Approach: Starts at Cistercian Abbey of Bélapátfalva.
Description: It is a complex nature trail showing culture-history, geological structure of the hill, plant communities and flora and fauna of rocky grasslands on- and at the vicinity of Bélkő hill.

 

B-8 nature trail: Szilvásvárad - Szalajka-völgyi Nature Trail

Bükk mountains, (Bükk National Park)

Established and maintained by: Egererdő Zrt. - Szilvásváradi Erdészeti Igazgatóság, Bükk National Park Directorate

Parameters of the study trail:

    Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 4,2 km, 2-3 hours

    Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, nature trail in lineStations (signed sights): 10

     Difficulty level: walking route

Approach: The walk strats from the edge of Szilvásvárad, in Szalajka-valley and goes up to  Istállós-kő cave.

Description: The boards give information about the establishment and purpose of  Bükk National Park, watercourses supplied by carst springs, wildlife of the valley, Cliff-spring, formation of lime-tuff dams of cascade Veil, water discharge of Szalajka spring, archeological finds of Istállós-kő cave. Szalajka-valley has some more interests for hikers.

 

B-9 nature trail: Szilvásvárad - Millennary Nature Trail

     Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 2,5 km, 1 hour

     Signing, route: shilling blue line      in white square, nature trail in line,

     Stations (signed sights): 20 boardsDifficulty level: tour route

Approach: The nature trail starts at information house of Bükk National Park Directorate in Szilvásvárad and goes up to the look-out tower on Kalapat-peak.

Description: 10 boards of the nature trail out of  20 show nature values of the Bükk and nature-protection activity, the other 10 provide high level information on  forestry.

 

B-10 nature trail: Bükk-fennsík - Olasz-kapu Nature Trail

Bükk, Bükk-plateau (Bükk National Park)

      Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 7,2 km, 3 hours

      Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, turns back to the starting point (round tour) with      cross roads

Approach: The naure trail starts from Olasz-kapu parking lot of Bükk National Park.

Description: The naure trail provides geological, geomorfological, botanical, zoological and culture-historical information. Here can be found the highest cave of the country, Kőrös.spring-cave the oldest one of the mountains.

 

B-11 nature trail: Bükk-plateau - Kis-kő-hát - Nagy-mező Nature Trail

Approach: By car to the bar at the crossroads of Eger - Felsőtárkány - Lillafüred (bányahegy parking lot), from there saddle between Kis-kő-hát and Zsérci-Nagy-dél, starting point of the nature trail can be approached on foot along tour route signed green square.

Description: The nature trail shows special shapes of Bükk-plateau and strictly protected flora of Nagy-mező.

 

B-12 nature trail: Bükk-plateau - Jávorkúti Nature Trail

Approach: By car from Lillafüred on road along Garadna- then Savós-valley to Jávorkút. The start board is at the South.western edge of Jávorkút.

Description: On the nature trail botanical, zoological, geomorphologival and culture-historical information can be gained..

 

B-13 nature trail: Rejtek Nature Trail (kis kör)

Bükk mountains, Southern Bükk (Bükk National Park)

       Signing, route: turns back to the      starting point (round tour)Stations (signed sights): 5

       Difficulty level: walking route,      the nature trail is easily accessible in every season

Approach: The nature trail starts from the yard of Rejtek Research-house (Tourist accommodation) of Bükk National Park Directorate and goes atound the vicinity of the house.

Description: On the nature trail boards show life, wildlife and water biotop of pine- and beech forests. Information connected to this nature trail can be connected to foerst-school programmes.

 

B-14 nature trail: Cserépfalu - Ördögtorony Nature Trail

Approach: The start point is in the centre of Cserépfalu near Suba-lyuk Museum.
Description:  There are a lot of interests on the nature trail: cultural sights, geological, biological, prehistory values besides wonderful flora and fauna. Suba-lyuk cave, the most important place of prehistoric man in Hungary is also worth visiting..

 

B-15 nature trail: Szomolya – Kaptárkő (Beehive-stone) Nature Trail

Bükk-vidék, Bükkalja (Szomolyai Kaptárkövek Nature Protection Area)

Established and maintained by: Szomolya Village Municipality, Bükk National Park Directorate, Kaptárkő Protection and Cultural Association (Eger)

Parameters of the study trail:

     Length, minimum  time needed to walk: 4 km, 2 hours

     Signing, route: shilling blue      line in white square, one part in line, the other part turns back to the      starting point (round tour)

     Stations (signed sights): 2 (+6 stations)

     Difficulty level: tour route

Approach: The start board is in the centre of Szomolya.

Description: The nature trail shows natural and culture-historic values of  beehive-stones of Szomolya Nature Protection Area..
